Egypt chooses to “escalate” after FIFA’s decision regarding the Senegal match

The Egyptian Football Association issued new statements, Monday, following the decisions of the International Football Association (FIFA) regarding the match between Senegal and Egypt in the second leg of the African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

After a long wait since last March 29, the International Federation’s Disciplinary Committee decided its decision regarding the request for a replay of the match, as it ignored the request for a replay that tantalized the Egyptians’ imagination for several weeks, and decided only to impose a fine of 175,000 Swiss francs (180 thousand dollars) on the Senegalese federation, and establishing A match for the Teranga Lions without the presence of the fans due to the failure to implement safety rules.

The International Federation also imposed a fine of 6,000 Swiss francs (regarding $6,000) on Egypt for “team misconduct”.

After the announcement of those decisions, a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association, Helmy Mashhour, stressed that the complaint of the match between Egypt and Senegal will be escalated to the Court of Arbitration for Sports.

Mashhour said, in statements to “Vilgoal” website, “We have not received the official decision yet, but it is expected.”

He added, “We have prepared a file. We will escalate the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport as soon as the decision is reached.”

He also stressed, “We have a foreign lawyer who will work on the case, and we will not compromise our right.”

And the president of the Egyptian Football Association, Gamal Allam, had previously confirmed his intention to go to the Sports Court, using the penalties expected to be issued once morest Senegal, with the aim of obtaining “Egypt’s right.”

The Egyptian Football Association had submitted a complaint to FIFA to demand that the match be replayed for “several abuses, such as throwing hostile projectiles at players, and using laser beams extensively during the execution of penalty kicks,” as well as “racist” expressions directed at the players of the Egyptian team, led by the Liverpool star. Mohamed Salah.
