Egypt calls for a unified and firm international stance towards Israel’s violations

The Egyptian ambassador also addressed “the expansion of the scope of the Israeli aggression to include Lebanese and Syrian territories, in flagrant violation of the Security Council and General Assembly resolutions since the beginning of the crisis.”

Abdel Khaleq called for “implementing UN resolutions regarding a ceasefire and access to aid, rescuing more than 400,000 civilians trapped in the northern Gaza Strip under continuous Israeli bombardment, and taking a unified and firm international position toward Israeli violations of international humanitarian law.”

He stressed, “Egypt’s complete rejection of the Israeli efforts to stop the work of UNRWA, and the necessity of obligating Israel to fulfill all its responsibilities as an occupying power.”

Abdel Khaleq also briefed the Secretary-General of the United Nations on “the efforts made by Egypt in the process of mediating a ceasefire, its ongoing contacts with all countries with influence to calm the explosive regional situation, its efforts to mitigate the impact of the humanitarian deterioration in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and its ongoing efforts to unify the Palestinian ranks.” And support the Palestinian Authority.”

He stressed Egypt’s commitment to “supporting Palestinian rights and resuming the path of peace, until the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
