EGGS RECALLED – SALMONELLA SUSPECTED

EGGS RECALLED – SALMONELLA SUSPECTED

ICA is recalling a number of products and it concerns ICA eggs, ICA Brunch eggs, ICA Breakfast eggs and ICA Basic eggs in various package sizes with a best before date of August 13, 2024.

The egg codes are SE684-35 and SE684-36 as well as packaging number SE007 printed on the egg. Only these egg codes are affected by the recall.

These are six-packs, twelve-packs, 15-packs and 24-packs.

The products are being recalled as a precautionary measure because the supplier – Kronegg – discovered salmonella in the stable environment where the eggs were laid. No eggs have been confirmed to be infected, but Ica has nevertheless taken the decision to recall the eggs from there and where there is a suspicion of infection.

May pose a health hazard

The goods can pose a health hazard, but when heated to 70 degrees, the salmonella bacteria dies. Typical symptoms of salmonella are diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, fever and vomiting.

– At ICA, we carry out careful quality checks on all products we put on the market. We take the incident seriously and are now investigating together with the supplier how this could have happened and how we can ensure that it does not happen again, says Niklas Warén, Quality Manager at ICA Sweden.

The products are now put in the checkout and are no longer possible to buy. ICA regrets the incident and urges customers who have already purchased the products to return them.

“Kronägg has made direct contact with wholesalers. Kronägg takes the incident very seriously and is investigating with the producer and authorities how this could have happened,” writes Kronägg in a press release.

Axfood is also now recalling two egg articles from Garant. These are Guaranteed Eggs, Indoor Free-Range, Medium six-pack also with a best before date of August 13 and Guaranteed Eggs, Indoor Free-Range, Medium 15-pack. There are the codes 2SE684-35 and 2SE684-36.

Eggs with a different code may appear in the same carton, but these are not affected by the recall.
