A former winner of the Tour de France will be at the start of Paris-Nice, and that was not really planned. The Colombian Egan Bernal is in fact one of the seven runners announced by Ineos Grenadiers for the Race to the Sun, which will start on Sunday from Les Mureaux (final on March 10). A good way to confirm his return to the forefront, this time at the World Tour level, he who has been very visible since the start of the season, at the Tour of Colombia (5th overall) as well as at Gran Camino (3rd behind Jonas Vingegaard and Lenny Martinez).
Alongside the winner of Paris-Nice 2019, the British will count on Carlos Rodriguez, 5th in the last Tour de France and stage winner in Morzine, whose start to the season is more discreet. The Belgian Laurens De Plus (10th in the last Giro) will be an important support in the mountains, like the Spaniard Omar Fraile, while the nuggets Ben Turner and Joshua Tarling will be decisive on the flat, Jonathan Castroviejo being capable of doing everything .
Accustomed to triumphing in Nice during the Sky era, with Bradley Wiggins (2012), Richie Porte (2013, 2015), Geraint Thomas (2016) or Sergio Henao (2017), the British team has no longer won the event since 2019 and the success of Egan Bernal.
