Efraimoglou to ET: They are doing it upwards 2024-07-28 03:42:23

According to the data of the General Commercial Register (GEMI) at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA), the companies that started their activity in the first half of 2024 are almost four times the number of companies that were deleted.

During this period, the balance of registrations – deletions strengthened by 15.8%, reaching 3,787 in 2024 from 3,271 in 2023. More specifically, new registrations increased significantly to 5,092 in the first 6 months of 2024 compared to 4,646 in the corresponding period period of 2023. At the same time, the number of deregistrations remained at relatively stable levels, increasing slightly, from 1,375 in the first half of 2023 to 1,385 in 2024. In addition, most new business registrations are presented in the service sector, followed by commercial and industrial enterprises.

The significant increase in new business registrations in Greece confirms the positive dynamics of Greek entrepreneurship. It reflects the steady improvement in the domestic business environment and renewed confidence in the economy’s stability and prospects. However, the transformation of the country’s development model through the attraction of new productive investments, the integration of innovation and new technologies, the upgrading of the added value of Greek products and services, the creation of not only more, but also stronger and more dynamic businesses, with an extroverted orientation and international competitiveness. The business world of the country must and can play a leading role in this effort.

The challenge for Greek businesses in the next period is to be able to invest in their “green” and digital transition, in the integration of innovation and new technologies, in attracting talent, in the production of internationally competitive products and services. This effort requires targeted incentives, support and financial tools, as well as effective training and know-how transfer mechanisms.

The Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry expertly serves this mission, providing SMEs with multifaceted support, as well as inspiration and guidance, so that they can keep pace with developments, overcoming obstacles and limitations related to their size, such as skills shortages , the difficulty of accessing funding and networks, etc. Businesses are aware of the changes happening around us, understand the need to adapt to the new environment and are ready to take advantage of every opportunity to upgrade their operation and production. We must continue to support them, with favorable policies for entrepreneurship and investments, promoting the dynamic, durable and sustainable development of the Greek economy.
