Efraimoglou to ET: For a sustainable, extroverted industry

We must recognize this offer and above all strengthen it. We need to unleash the potential of Greek industry. To give businesses the push and support they need to keep pace with technological developments, make the digital and green transition a reality, gain access to research knowledge and innovation and, of course, to implement new extroversion strategies.

What is required is a significant acceleration of the growth of private fixed capital investments, from 14% of GDP today to 22-23%, in order to approach the average of the European Union. The transition from a low-skilled and low-technology-intensive economy to a medium- and high-technology-intensive economy, as well as increasing Greece’s participation in global value chains, are the major challenges to be won.

The strategy plan presented by the government to strengthen investment and industry, with the aim of productive transformation of the economy and the creation of new jobs throughout Greece, certainly moves in the right direction, incorporating a significant part of the relevant proposals it has tabled the EBEA.

Of course, there is always room for further improvement of the development framework of the Greek industry, with even more tax incentives, good practices and solutions, especially in matters of energy cost management.

EBEA consistently and consistently supports the requests of Greek industrial enterprises: as a collective body representing the business world, but also as an institutionalized advisor to the State in matters of development. It supports the promotion of a structured policy for manufacturing, with horizontal, but also sector-specific interventions.

Takes initiatives and implements actions to upgrade human resources skills. At the same time, it practically supports the industry’s efforts in the field of extroversion, with well-organized networking actions, but also a toolbox of services that cover needs in the entire range of export activity.

The transition to a sustainable and export-oriented industry cannot but be a key pillar in the country’s new production model. With bold policies, cooperation and joining forces, we can achieve this goal.
