Washington, United States of America (CNN) – The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives, Michael McCaul, confirmed on Wednesday that the United States is ready to work with Israel to try to extract the hostages from Gaza, but stressed that “this will be a difficult task.”

“Obviously our special forces are good at this, and we have a hostage rescue team and the FBI, and we will provide assistance to Israel to get them out of there,” McCaul said in a press conference. “It will be very difficult, going from house to house, as happened in Fallujah in 2005.” When they used them as human shields.”

McCaul stressed that there must be an analysis of any intelligence lapses on the part of Israel and the United States. He said: “We heard from the (Biden) administration that it appears there was an intelligence failure as well… We are not quite sure how we missed that, and we are not quite sure how Israel got that wrong.”

The Republican representative in the US Congress added: “We know that Egypt warned the Israelis 3 days ago regarding the possibility of an event like this occurring, and we know that this was planned perhaps a year ago.”

For his part, Representative David Kostoff said: “Our intelligence has failed us. Israeli intelligence has certainly failed, but our intelligence has also failed.”
