The resurfacing work, which required the closure of the Brussels ring road (R0) to traffic during this weekend, went smoothly and will be completed a little early. While the reopening to traffic was scheduled for Monday at 4 a.m. at the latest, the ring reopens this Sunday, from 8 p.m. The accesses between the Genappe and Groenendael interchanges will be gradually reopened until 10 p.m.
“The favorable weather enabled the teams to carry out the planned work at a high pace. The marking is now complete, the cleaning operations are in progress and it will then be necessary to remove the signage to gradually reopen the ring towards Brussels, ”confirmed around 3:30 p.m. the spokesperson for Sofico, Héloïse Winandy.
According to the planned schedule, another weekend will be necessary to complete this project which aims to renovate 7 km of the R0, in the direction of traffic towards Brussels, between Braine-l’Alleud and the geographical limit with the Flemish region. If the weather conditions are favourable, a new closure to traffic will be implemented next weekend, according to terms and conditions to be defined later. The objective is to complete all the work before the start of the school year.
This project, which began on June 26, aims both to rehabilitate and secure the portion of the Brussels ring road between Braine and the Flemish region. It is led by Sofico and SPW Mobilité. The contract was awarded for three million euros.
