Efficient and Smooth Evacuation Process at The Ardentes Festival

But even if this is done calmly, the organization of this evacuation is laborious. Indeed, the thousands of spectators have to evacuate the campsite (which around 3 p.m. was 3/4 empty) but also the car park, which takes a lot of time.

”In the morning around 11am, we tried to go out to do some shopping, and there was a traffic jam at the exit of the campsite. A lady from the organization warned us that it would be a final exit, because the last day was going to be cancelled. But she didn’t give us a reason at the time. She told us that we had to take our things and evacuate, that we had until half past twelve”, tells us Rayane, a French festival-goer living in Brussels.

“People were quite cooperative,” continues our witness, who points out two problems despite everything. “For those who were leaving tomorrow, who already have their train or bus ticket, they find themselves outside without knowing what to do”, he explains first, before coming to the second concern: “Then, it there are festival-goers in the car, like us. There are plenty of huge parking lots but only one exit. So there are cars as far as the eye can see. Someone mentioned 3 hours to get out. And the road to get out is full of people coming from the campsite to go to the parking lot. So it’s difficult to empty it.” “I think it will take me longer to get out of here than to get back to Brussels,” adds Rayane.
