Excessive consumption of caffeine can cause serious health complications. Symptoms of a caffeine overdose include:

• Agitation and anxiety.
• irregular heartbeat.
• Nausea or vomiting.
• Dizziness.
• Fever.
• Diarrhea.
Convulsions / seizures.
Muscle twitching.
• Increased thirst.

Coffee drinkers may also experience withdrawal symptoms following consuming caffeine such as headache, drowsiness, irritability, nausea, and difficulty concentrating.
What happens when you drink coffee during your period?
Too much caffeine can worsen menstrual irregularities. Although studies don’t link caffeine intake to menstrual cycles, drinking too much caffeine can add to some of the discomforts you may already experience during your period.
Also, consuming too much caffeine can worsen menstrual pain by making you feel jittery, causing sleep problems, increased heart rate, diarrhea, and increased stomach acidity.
Excessive caffeine and menstruation
Excessive consumption of caffeine is very harmful, especially for menstruating women, as it affects:
1. Sleep
You should limit the intake of caffeinated beverages throughout the menstrual cycle to prevent sleep disturbances and energy level changes.
2. Mood
It is advised to reduce the intake of caffeinated beverages during menstruation, as they can cause anxiety, tension, tension, and pressure on the adrenal glands.
3. Dehydration
Consuming coffee in large quantities may increase urination during the menstrual cycle, which in turn leads to the loss of vital physiological fluids, so it is advised to drink plenty of water to keep the body hydrated and reduce the chances of developing bad menstrual symptoms.
4. Stomach pain
Coffee also blocks a hormone that can narrow blood vessels and impede blood flow, and can contribute to bloating and stomach pain, so consuming caffeinated beverages may exacerbate cramps or menstrual pain.
5. Hormone disorder
Experts say that coffee contains caffeine, which may boost estrogen, exacerbating the situation for women on their period.
6. The length of the course
Coffee consumption during the menstrual cycle is also associated with longer and heavier cycles, according to a 2014 study published in the Taibah University Journal of Medical Sciences. The study says that habitual use of caffeine should be considered as a risk factor for most menstrual disorders.
