Water can be relied upon to lose excess weight, provided it is taken in light of a set of guidelines, according to Dr. Duane Mellor, a registered dietitian and chair of the Department of Medicine and Nutrition at Aston Medical College.

1- Drink water before eating
If you want to eat a small amount of food throughout the day, all you have to do is drink a glass of water before each meal, because it helps fill the stomach, which contributes to feeling full quickly.
In a previous study, researchers found that drinking water before meals caused the body to lose 2 kilograms of weight within 12 weeks, especially for middle-aged and elderly adults.
2- Drink water while resting
Two small studies revealed that drinking plenty of water at rest stimulates the body to burn more calories, but only for 60 minutes.

The nutritionist explained that water is calorie-free, but it will not contribute to weight loss on its own, stressing the need:
Follow a low-calorie diet.
Doing exercise regularly.
Avoid high-calorie drinks, such as soda and alcohol.
