Effective Rainwater Management and Traffic Control in Jeddah: Municipality’s Hypothesis Implementation

2023-10-15 19:09:40

The Jeddah Governorate Municipality implemented the hypothesis that heavy rains would lead to water accumulating on public roads and disrupting traffic.

This comes as part of the secretariat’s preparations for the rainy season, and raising the degree of readiness of sites and equipment.

The secretariat explained that the hypothesis developed a scenario for a rise in water levels in a number of main streets in the northern Obhur areas in the Al-Yaqout neighborhood – Al-Firdous – and King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Road, with the participation of all concerned departments.

During this, the rain plan was activated and support and support teams were directed from nearby support centers, supported by 120 field participants and 86 miscellaneous equipment, including pumps, tanks and cranes.

The hypothesis included requesting support from the Jeddah Governorate Traffic Department to organize traffic and allocate a path for equipment to empty water into manholes, which aims to reduce the time period for emptying rainwater collected in the affected areas for an estimated period of an hour previously to approximately 20 minutes, and raise the degree and level of speed of coordination and cooperation between the various parties and avoid observations. Every rainy season.
