Edwin Le Rouzic, an artist with a Gavroche look and a wandering soul, has just realized a childhood dream: the release of his first album Nomade. Inspired by his wanderings in a camper van across France, this opus is an invitation to travel, to love and to activism, in an atmosphere reminiscent of singers like Renaud, Cabrel, Bénabar, and the Cowboys Fringants.
Originally from Rennes, Edwin says he searched for his path for a long time. “After my master’s degree in history, I still didn’t know what to do with my existence. I had thought about journalism,” he confides. Finally, he turned to hosting summer camps before feeling, at the age of 33, an irresistible call to elsewhere. “I didn’t want to stay stuck in a solitary existence doing historical research. So I bought a camper van to explore the world. »
After living eight years in Rennes, in the Cleunay district, the artist decided to leave everything behind to follow his nomadic instinct. In September 2021, he left Rennes for a journey that took him across France, from Auvergne to Hauts-de-France via the East. Wherever he walks, he does what he loves most: street music. “It worked really well on the markets,” he rejoices.
Accompanied by his accomplice Alexis, Edwin is now embarking on the adventure of self-production. “We recorded part in Saint-Malo and another at home. The horns were done in an afternoon, and within two days, bass and drums were in the box. I even recorded the vocals in front of the washing machine, surrounded by acoustic mattresses. It was quite funny! “, he remembers with a smile.
I needed new horizons,” he explains.
The result of this musical adventure is an album of ten tracks. “My songs talk about everything that is close to my heart: travel, love and more committed subjects. » Among the pieces, The Mop undoubtedly stands out. “It’s like my hit!” I even shot a music video for this song,” he adds proudly. In this CD, the majority of the album’s lyrics reflect his personal journey. “ Escape was written after a painful breakup,” he confides. “Other titles, likeThe Edge of the Pondare invitations to disconnect from everyday life and social networks.”
For Edwin, this album represents much more than an artistic achievement. “It’s a teenage dream that has come true, 18 years later,” he admits. After spending the summer on the road, the singer plans to settle down in Brittany for the fall and winter. “I will probably hibernate in Brittany, but the desire to move will come back quickly,” he laughs. Until then, a few concert dates are planned. Attention lovers of songs with lyrics and wandering!
