Edwin, who had been missing for several days, was found dead in his apartment after an intervention by the New York police, at the request of his closest friends.
Initial reports suggest that the publicist and photographer died of a heart attack. His family in Medellin had been actively searching for him for several weeks, without being able to contact him. One relative had even gone to several clinics in New York in an effort to find him.
The situation took a turn when the Colombian consulate in New York, in collaboration with Liliana Meló, a prominent leader of the Colombian community, activated a search protocol among the Colombian diaspora. Meló contacted Minuto30, whose commitment to the community facilitated the reunion with Edwin Henao’s family in Medellín.
In the coming days, relatives of the deceased photographer will travel to New York to coordinate the repatriation of his remains for a Christian burial.
