For Oslo City Schools,
The iPad is the best choice.

Each student has access to an iPad

75 schools

Norway has been working to incorporate technology into education for 20 years, and as part of this, the Oslo Board of Education allows schools to choose the technology they use in the classroom, with the majority of public schools choosing iPads.

The use of iPads has transformed classrooms, empowering educators to serve a diverse range of students and improving the overall quality of education.

For example, Bogstad School puts student creativity at the center of education. Instead of giving traditional assignments, teachers use iPad to encourage students to use their imaginations and engage with learning in more innovative ways. Students create math podcasts in GarageBand and mythology-themed card games in Pages. The result is a fun, engaging learning environment that helps students learn more.

“With iPad, all students can
Being there for them and giving them what they need
With iPad,
It has completely transformed the school and the way we teach.”

Lene Rønning-Arnesen, Headmaster, Trossterud School

Trossterud School principal Lene Rønning-Arnesen introduced iPad to her students to improve their literacy and comprehension. With iPad, students can use the tools that work best for them and their learning styles. They can use apps like Keynote and iMovie to present their work and share their ideas in a variety of other ways. With iPad, students’ engagement in learning has skyrocketed. Teachers also report that their students’ reading skills have improved.

At Tierverket School, teachers like Mathias Nystuen Lie use iPads to assign tailored tasks to students, helping them to grow and feel accomplished. For example, when learning about how electromagnets work, students use their iPads to perform different tasks. In pairs, one student is in charge of building the electromagnet, while the other takes pictures and records their observations in a notes app. As a result, Tierverket students learn from each other and feel like they have an important role to play.

Oslo City Schools allows educators to change the devices they use in the classroom each year, but they choose to stick with iPads.
