Education of Río Negro affirmed that there were improvements in the learning of Language and Mathematics at the Primary Level

Education of Río Negro affirmed that the province registered an important improvement in the Language and Mathematics learning at the Primary Level, both in public and private schools in rural and urban areas. The Minister of Education affirmed that the Province is located “above the national average”.

Besides, It stands out that there was growth in those sectors with lower incomes and more affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The educational portfolio supports it from the Sample National Learn Tests, which were conducted on November 18 of last year to 123,855 6th grade students in 3,686 schools across the country.

of that totall 3,504 belong to 145 schools in Río Negro (87 state and 58 private)of which 89 are urban and the remaining 56 rural.

They also highlighted the participation of schools and students in Río Negro with the implementation of these standardized assessments, where there was a 92% participation of schools that make up the sample and 80% of students.

It was anticipated that in September the Primary Education Census Learning Test will be implemented for sixth grade students that will allow progress in learning to be probed.

The results were presented on Thursday, May 18, within the framework of the 125th assembly of the Federal Education Council.

MATHEMATICS


At the provincial level, In the census implemented in 2021, 79.4% of the students exceeded the Basic level of performance, distributed between Basic, Satisfactory and Advanced Level. In the sample test implemented in 2022, 83.4% of the students managed to reach these performance levels for Mathematics knowledge. The registered improvement reaches 4 percentage points.

LANGUAGE

In relation to the performance registered in Language, in the census implemented in 2021, 79.5% of the students managed to exceed the Basic Level of performance, distributed in Basic, Satisfactory and Advanced Level. In the sample test implemented in 2022, these results were achieved by 94.4% of the students. The improvement, in this case, amounts to 14.9 percentage points.

The Minister of Education of Río Negro, Pablo Núñez, explained that the trend of this new results report was observed “positively and, although in educational systems time is always required for trends to consolidate in the medium and long term, they allow us to indicate a path to deepen in the public policies that we have been implementing; mainly for our students from lower socioeconomic sectors, where we always have to redouble our efforts.

The official stressed that among the outstanding measures are “the return to full attendance, the role of care and learning of the School, the extension of the day in all Education Primary, the distribution and delivery of more books for each student, the accompaniment of Saturdays with various workshops (literacy, study techniques and accompaniment to the school trajectory), the reinforcement of school canteens, snacks and school transport, in addition of the permanent maintenance of educational establishments”.

«This is the path that we must continue and deepen: increase school times, the accompaniment to the trajectories and the training and teacher training. We highlight the work of teachers, teachers, and the entire educational community for the accompaniment in achieving these results, “said Núñez.
