The player with experience in the Major Leagues, Eduardo Escobar, dressed as a hero by hitting a two-run home run in the 6th inning to give Tigres de Aragua a 6-4 victory over Leones del Caracas in a match in Tuesday’s round of the Venezuelan League of Professional Baseball (LVBP).
Hely Daniel Rodríguez, press officer for the Bengalis, indicated that Aragua was able to remain undefeated at home, as it has a 5-0 record at the José Pérez Colmenares stadium in Maracay, after the recent feline confrontation.
The capitalians went ahead in the same first inning, with Puerto Rican Danny Ortiz on the bases, Lenyn Sosa hit a long home run off Jake Thompson’s deliveries.
Aragua did not wait long to react, in the same first inning they came back, scoring up to three runs, Alexi Amarista singled to drive in Cedrola and place Escobar on third base, then José “Cafecito” Martínez singled to drive in Escobar and place To Amarista in the anteroom, with Jesús Sucre at the plate, a new undisputed Bengali arrived to break the equality.
Caracas came to the front
Caracas went ahead at the beginning of the sixth leg, with the bases full, José Rondón received a walk to bring in the third hairy run, later Oswaldo Arcia was hit by deliveries from Daniel Juárez and the match was tied again.
Tigres set up an ambush in the bottom of the sixth inning, with runners on third and first, Leobaldo Piña grounded into a double play, however, this did not prevent Aragua from equalizing the actions.
Escobar’s key hit
Next, with Lorenzo Cedrola at first, Eduardo Escobar from La Pica, on his debut night, hit a long home run from the right to give the Bengalis the advantage.
The victory went to pitcher Daniel Juárez, his first in the LVBP, after pitching a third blank, the loss went to Jorge Rondón who in one inning pitcher allowed four hits, with a total of three runs allowed.
The save, second of the match, went to the young prospect Alfredo Zárraga, after retiring without problems in the ninth episode.
On offense for the winners, Eduardo Escobar stood out 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs; Lorenzo Cedrola 5-3 with 2 runs scored, Jesús Sucre 4-2 with a run scored, Keyber Rodríguez 4-2 with runs scored, Alexi Amarista 5-2 with runs scored and an RBI.
