New Delhi – Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha said that the Central Investigation Agency’s questioning is the same as questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kavita’s reference was in an interview given to the national media. The reference comes when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Kavitha for questioning in the Delhi liquor policy scam case.
“There is no difference between ED’s summons and Modi’s summons in India. Wherever elections are held, it has become a routine for the ED to come before the Prime Minister. What can the opposition do? Apart from going to the people’s court or the Supreme Court..”- Kavita said.
The ED had issued a notice to appear for questioning on Thursday in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy case. But Kavitha replied that she can attend on Saturday as she has a pre-arranged program. ED had earlier arrested Malayali businessman Arun Ramachandra Pillai, who is alleged to be the benami of Kavita. Along with Arun who is in custody, Kavita is also being questioned.
The ED alleges that the ‘South Group’ Aam Aadmi Party leaders, including K. Kavita, paid Rs 100 crores to form the liquor policy in a way that would give private companies a chance to make huge profits. Central agencies also say that Arun Ramachandra Pillai did these transactions for Kavita. The CBI had questioned them in December.
