There are faces you don’t forget and Édouard’s was one of them. If you have visited Louvain-la-Neuve, walked its streets and its festive evenings, you have necessarily come across it. Maybe you talked to him. Edouard had been an endearing everyday figure for so many years.
Edouard and his satchel which he never parted with, it was always a smile and a hello, an infectious joie de vivre. Among the students, from generation to generation, he only had friends whom he hugged. They affectionately nicknamed him Doudou and often invited him to participate in their activities and their guindailles.
On July 31, Doudou died. He was going to be 67 years old. Without him, Louvain-la-Neuve will probably not be quite the same.
“Sad news”we read on Facebook where many former students are moved by this disappearance. “Our Edouard! What a pinch in the heart! You will always be our friend”. Only the memories remain, Doudou is gone.
The funeral of Édouard de Briey will be celebrated this Friday morning in the Saint-Clément church in Watermael-Boitsfort.
