EXCLUSIVE – Competed by Gabriel Attal in the majority, the head of Horizons has started a series of trips to the Pays de la Loire. He is preparing his program and wants to bring together social democrats and the conservative right.

Édouard Philippe enters the Laval barracks (Mayenne), shakes hands and stops in front of a gleaming Ford vehicle. A collector’s item dated 1938, which firefighters used to provide emergency first aid. “It’s not bad, it looks good!” he says this Thursday. The day before, on the lawn of a racecourse, he displayed the same enthusiasm: “I like racing.”

The leader of the Horizons party is a follower of the movement, but he is paradoxical. He is moving towards the 2027 presidential election, but he is lingering more and more wherever he goes. “My grandmother said: “You have to take your time to avoid losing it”,” he laughs. On Thursday, he completed a three-day visit to Sarthe and Mayenne.
