Unfit?

Some detractors of the mayor of Le Havre suggest that the illnesses he suffers from might be a burden that would prevent him from fully assuming the role of President of the Republic. “Sometimes they do it consciously, sometimes unconsciously,” commented Edouard Philippe on the subject of these attempts at destabilization. “I saw journalists doing it, political friends with a lot of quotation marks, doing it, of course it exists, that’s how it is, that’s life. As my head changes, I have to talk regarding it? (…) I don’t really want to spend hours there”.

He also recalled that his illnesses are “not serious”. “It’s not contagious, it’s not painful, but the real subject is that there are lots of people who experience this and I am visible, I am recognized, well a little less now , but it’s not very serious.”

Since his confessions, parents, children and young adults suffering from the same illnesses have sent him letters to thank him for speaking regarding it publicly. “It’s really hard to live with. (…) If it serves that purpose, so much the better.”
