Edmundo González has 47.2% popular support

CB Consulting showed that the opposition candidate for the presidential elections of July 28 in Venezuela, Edmundo González, has 47.2% of popular support behind María Corina Machado, the disqualified opposition leader, who receives 50.5% of support.

On Tuesday, May 21, the company specializing in the study of the social climate and the projection of electoral scenarios, published a survey showing the most popular South American presidents.

According to the results, Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa is once once more the most popular leader in South America, having gone from having 57.8% of the support of those surveyed the previous month to 58.1%, with a disapproval rating of 39.5%.

In second place is the Argentine Javier Milei, with a positive image of 54.8% and a rejection of 42.9%. Meanwhile, the third place is occupied by the Uruguayan Luis Lacalle Pou, who currently has the support of 54.7% of those interviewed and the disapproval of 41.6%.

Paraguay’s Santiago Peña, in fourth place, with 51.3% support and 43.9% disapproval; Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who has 49.2% support and 47.4% disapproval; Bolivia’s Luis Arce, who rises from 40.5% to 42.3% (although he maintains a strong rejection rate of 54.2%), and Chile’s Gabriel Boric, who receives 41.8% support versus 55% disapproval.

As for the least popular, there is Nicolás Maduro – who drops from 40.9% approval to 39.5% -, the Colombian Gustavo Petro – who drops from 41.1% to 38.6% – and the Peruvian Dina Boluarte, who continues to fall in the popularity index and once more closes the list for another month, going from 25.3% to 24.8% support.

In Venezuela, the candidate of the opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), has 47.2% support (and 34.2% rejection), while Machado, the opposition leader disqualified from running in the elections, receives 50.5% support and 40.7% rejection.

The survey was conducted between May 14 and 18 among 12,332 respondents (an average of 1,022 to 1,485 per country), and has a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of +/- 2% to 3%.
