Edmundo González explains why he did not appear before the TSJ

Opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia issued a statement on social media on Friday night, explaining his position regarding the call for the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).

In this regard, he points out that he decided not to appear at the meeting “in defense of the popular will expressed in a forceful manner on July 28 and to prevent that will from being ignored.”

González Urrutia explains that “there are compelling legal reasons for safeguarding the constitutional powers of the CNE.”

The opposition candidate reiterates that it is the duty of the CNE to “guarantee the transparency and reliability of the electoral processes.”

González Urrutia, for his part, says he is willing “to seek spaces for dialogue and understanding.” However, he clarifies that he will remain firm “so that the will of the people is respected.”

The Supreme Court summoned the 10 candidates in the July 28 presidential race to appear in its electoral chamber to investigate, verify and certify the results of the voting process.

Thus, it was learned that, of those present, only eight signed the resolution, with the exception of Enrique Márquez.

The Electoral Chamber of the TSJ then requested the CNE to submit: the Minutes of the Scrutiny of the electoral tables at the national level, the Final Totalization Minutes and the Minutes of Adjudication and Proclamation.
