Google’s successive investments in MolenGeek show the way for training operators. The combined efforts of the public and private sectors must bring out new digital talents.

The MolenGeek initiative has definitely caught Google’s eye. A few years ago, the tech giant’s big boss, Sundar Pichai, had already visited the facilities of this attractive digital ecosystem born in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Today, Google is continuing its support. A check for 600,000 euros has been added to the budget. of this training center intended for young people with few qualifications wishing to quickly enter the job market.

In total, Google has already injected one million euros into MolenGeek’s digital programswhich prides itself on directing 85% of its participants towards a professional path, often in professions in shortage.

The behemoth Google is not the only one supporting the project. Proximus has also been involved for a long time. Partnerships have been established with companies such as Microsoft, Meta, Odoo, etc. The public body Bruxelles Formation is also in cahoots with the non-profit organisation.

The stakes are high

These rapprochements demonstrate that the challenge of training is mobilizing and unifying. To offer opportunities to young people – graduates or not –, to create economic activity in urban neighborhoods, but also in rural areas, to bring out the entrepreneurial talents of tomorrow and – let’s be ambitious – to give birth to new tech champions, It all starts with skill acquisition.

The stakes are decisive, crucial. No wonder politicians systematically put it at the centre of their electoral speeches.. Clearly, initiatives are developing, both private and public. BeCentral, Ecole 19 have a real power of attraction. Public actors like Technofutur in Charleroi also have nothing to be ashamed of in terms of the services they offer.

The test still needs to be put into practice. To succeed in boosting the employment rate and reviving economic activity in Wallonia and Brussels, efforts will have to be combined. It doesn’t matter where the organizational and financial support comes from, only the result matters..
We must start by attracting young people with attractive training courses that are in tune with the times, but also rich in opportunities. Artificial intelligence, video games, social networks, digital technology in the broad sense must be at the heart of training systems and capture the vital forces that our companies need so much.
