The Covid 19 crisis has put agricultural, food security and environmental issues back at the center of the debate. In 2022, number of journal publications rural economy illustrate a proliferation of initiatives, restoring a key role to rural and peri-urban territories in the management of these issues, both in France and in Europe and on the African continent. This year is also marked by the return of war to Europe. The Russian-Ukrainian conflict has a major impact on the world economy, particularly agro-industry. Its immediate consequence is the return of inflation (+5.8% in August over one year according to INSEE), which is particularly pronounced for food consumer goods (+7.7%). This relative distortion of prices calls into question the capacity of public and private actors to propose structural innovations in order to absorb this shock.
