Edinson Cavani became a new Boca player and in the midst of his massive welcome, a controversial gesture by the Uruguayan player with the president of Boca, Jorge Amor Ameal, went viral.

It all happened during the press conference prior to the forward’s presentation at La Bombonera. There, Cavani answered questions from journalists accompanied by Ameal and Chelo Delgado. When it was all over, the president Xeneize approached the attacker and in an affectionate gesture tried to touch his arm, something that the footballer rejected.

The awkward moment went viral and the look on Ameal’s face (and also Cavani’s) showed that it was not pleasant for either of them. Obviously, the Uruguayan did not like that his physical space was invaded and he made it known in an inelegant way, in full view of everyone.

Minutes later, Cavani went to the Bombonera playing field where he was applauded by thousands of fans who showed him their affection, despite not having made his debut. They gave him an ovation when he went out onto the field and they sang: “Uruguayo, Uruguayo.”

Cavani was very happy and excited, even declaring: “I can’t wait to shout a goal with this shirt.”
