Édgar Ramírez named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France

Édgar Ramírez was named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of the French Republic along with the entire cast of the film Emilia Peréz.

Through his Instagram account, the Venezuelan actor expressed his gratitude to Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture of France, and Mohamed Bouabdallah, Cultural Advisor of France in the United States, for the distinction.

“It is an honor that we will celebrate and respect for life!” Ramírez wrote in the publication, in which he shared several photos of the moment in which the film’s cast received the distinction.

Emilia Pérez, a film directed by Jacques Audiard, will be released in select theaters on November 1 before streaming on Netflix starting November 13 in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The film, with which Audiard won the Jury Prize at Cannes, tells the story of the powerful lawyer Rita, played by Zoe Saldaña, who accepts an unexpected task: helping a leader of a Mexican cartel to fake his death and submit to sex reassignment operations to become Emilia Pérez.

Pérez is played by Karla Sofía Gascón and the cast is completed by Selena Gómez, in the role of the capo’s wife turned woman, Adriana Paz, who plays Epifanía, and Édgar Ramírez, who plays Gustavo.
