US actor Eddie Murphy (61, “Beverly Hills Cop”, Dereamgirls”) will take on the leading role in the planned Christmas comedy “Candy Cane Lane”, Amazon Studios announced this via Twitter yesterday.
In September, Murphy signed a contract with the American streaming giant Amazon for leading roles in three films and for his own film projects for Prime Video and Amazon Studios. This was preceded by Murphy’s great success with “The Prince from Zamunda 2” on Amazon Prime Video.
Candy Cane Lane is set to be directed by Reginald Hudlin, who co-directed the 1992 comedy Boomerang with Murphy. The content of the story of their new collaboration is still under wraps. The start of shooting is planned for this winter, as reported by the cinema portal Deadline.com.
