“Our relationship has broken down over music,” Jethro, who is nine years older than Ed, revealed. “I taught him, and we’re now not even on talking terms. He needs to apologise to me first but I don’t think he ever will.”
The heart of the dispute revolves around a track called ”Raise Em Up,” which Jethro and Ed recorded together in 2010. The song also featured in the 2013 movie “All Stars.” jethro had remixed the track, co-crediting Ed and featuring his image on the artwork. He aimed to re-release the track to raise funds for his aspiring musician daughter, Skyla Rain Sheeran, but legal hurdles have prevented him.
“I was ordered to drop his name and image from our joint music which he had been using and I want to [use],” Jethro explained. “He has made millions but I feel I was due some recompense and recognition through a verbal agreement we both had of three songs I had written and produced, and gave to him to take to his fan base. Why wouldn’t he want to help and be kind to a family member who is an aspiring musician?”
jethro maintains that he was Ed’s musical inspiration during his formative years, and feels he hasn’t received due credit for his contributions.
The legal battle and ongoing feud have left jethro feeling disillusioned and unresolved.
