Ecuador’s agenda is not imposed by a small group of lax people: Noboa

MEXICO CITY.- In his first statements following the assault on the Mexican embassy in Quito, the Ecuadorian president, Daniel Noboaindicated that “Ecuador’s agenda is imposed by the majority, not by a small group of lax people”.

Noboa recalled that he was elected by the majority of Ecuadorians and that based on that principle will not allow minority groups to impose themselvesreported the media El Universo.

The Citizen Revolution party announced hours before that they categorically rejected what happened and that they asked the president to resign.

“The vast majority of Ecuador decided that I be here and, based on that same principle, I will never allow a small group of people to want to impose themselves as if they were the majority. “Ecuador’s agenda is imposed by the majority, not by a small group of lax people”the president stressed, the media added.

The Ecuadorian presidentor attended the handover of the baton in the community of San Miguel Bajo in Imbabura. Luisa González, former presidential candidate, responded to Noboa:

“Small group? What was done by the government of #ElNuevoEcuador has received REPUDATION FROM THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY, organizations, States, political parties, congressmen, etc. RESIGN before you finish destroying the country.”

A conference by the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry is planned for this Saturday followingnoon.

Mexico broke relations with Ecuador following police stormed its embassy in Quito and detained the former vice president Jorge Glas, whom the Ecuadorian authorities have already transferred to a maximum security prison in Guayaquil. Nicaragua also broke relations with Ecuador, following the invasion of the Mexican legation in Quito.
