ECOWAS Conference concludes with Nigeria’s Bola Tinubu as new President prioritizing fight against unconstitutional changes: Updates on Mali, Burkina-Faso and Guinea

The 63ᵉ session of the Conference of Heads of State of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) ended at the end of the day on Sunday July 9. Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has been unanimously elected as the organization’s new current president. Among his priorities at the head of ECOWAS, he intends to fight unconstitutional changes.

Are new sanctions against Mali, Burkina-Faso and Guinea coming? Not at the moment, but a new summit will take place soon to take stock of the situation in these three countries.

Here in the capital of Guinea-Bissau on Sunday, some heads of state were not happy at all because some of these countries, where there is a military transition and where there are young people, have settled in power , recently refused to receive envoys from the Economic Community of West African States.
