This year, for the second time, the European Investment Bank (EIB) is partnering with One World Media (https://bit.ly/3tfTGK5) to celebrate the best stories around the world that receive insufficient media coverage. One World Media is an NGO whose action tends to promote a precise and creative treatment of development issues in order to break down stereotypes, bring out another discourse and create a bridge between cultures.

The EIB sponsors an award to recognize excellence in media coverage of topics highlighting solutions implemented by and for women in response to current challenges ( https://bit.ly/3K5kXF6). This award is open to media, including television and radio, print and online, which explore solutions implemented by or for women in developing countries, i.e. solutions that take into account the impact of climate change and protect the environment, which improve access to education and medical care, or which promote the empowerment of women.

Jon Snow, One World Media Godfather, Former Channel 4 Presenter : “Since 1988, the One World Media Awards have recognized more than 1,000 journalists and videographers, setting a standard for international reporting. They are some of the greatest storytellers of our generation who help us understand the issues and solutions of the world around us. “

Thomas Östros (https://bit.ly/3FiiXFW), EIB Vice-President for Gender Equality : “At the EIB, through our investments, we seek to tackle deep inequalities between women and men while building the resilience and adaptive capacity of women and girls around the world. Our participation in the 2X Challenge (https://bit.ly/3nECD0P) and our SheInvest initiative (https://bit.ly/33ua66R) have shown us that investing in women can help solve climate and economic crises. We need more topics showing the way forward. “

Marjut Falkstedt (https://bit.ly/3qjGlyt), Secretary General of the EIB, who will be part of the jury awarding the “Women’s Solutions” award: “I am extremely proud to support this award for excellent media coverage of solutions implemented by and for women. We need stories showing initiatives, big or small, that can help society address challenges like climate change and the current pandemic, and that are likely to be replicated. I firmly believe that women play a pioneering role and I hope this award will help share their good ideas and inspire us all. “

The registrations for the One World Media Awards (https://bit.ly/3K5kXF6) are open until February 10, 2022 and the award procedure will run until June 2022, providing a platform for sharing topics on solutions implemented by and for women. Stay tuned for news regarding these prices.
