Housing: $1.15 billion in sanitation projects investments in 6 governorates

Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, said that the volume of investment in the program for sustainable sanitation services in rural areas amounts to 1.15 billion US dollars, in 6 governorates (Dakahlia, Sharqia, Beheira, Damietta, Menoufia, and Gharbia), which establishes this program. Among the most important projects funded by the World Bank, with regard to the restructuring of sanitation projects in rural areas, which aims to increase the percentage of sanitation services, raise the efficiency of infrastructure, and improve the level of services provided to citizens, including the implementation of these works in villages and dependencies in the targeted governorates.

Dr. Sayed Ismail explained the importance of integrating projects for the construction of desalination plants and the use of new, renewable and clean energy that help reduce the cost of produced electrical energy, which contributes to reducing the cost of desalinated water production, as well as the importance of good management of sludge, maximizing its safe use, and producing clean energy as a source. Sustainable energy, and the use of sludge following treatment as fertilizer for agriculture, as an alternative to the products of fertilizer factories, which contributes significantly to achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations related to energy, providing sustainable and healthy environments, and ensuring the sustainability of operation of sewage treatment plants projects.

Starting operation of El-Obour power transformer station, with a capacity of 525 megabytes, at a cost of 450 million pounds

Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, said that El-Obour 5 power transformer station has started operating, with a total capacity of 525 mega/volt/ampere, and linking to the national grid with a voltage of 220/66/220 kV, at a total cost of EGP 450 million. An area of ​​6.5 acres in the industrial zone in Obour City.

Engineer Ahmed Rashad, head of the Obour Authority, said that the importance of the Obour Power Transformer Station project lies in its being a great addition to the infrastructure of Obour City, as it contributes to providing the electrical capacity available for investment or residential expansions, to meet the city’s growing needs of electrical capacities, whether for factories and their expansions or New residential areas, in addition to some projects in neighboring cities, such as the units of the presidential initiative “The housing of all Egyptians in the 2,600 acres area” in the new city of Obour, as well as Egypt’s housing projects and the most distinguished lands of the homeland.
