ECONOMIC HERITAGE DAYS: Thermodyn opens its doors and unveils its activities and some of its products

More than 120 people were exceptionally able to visit the Thermodyn company this Saturday morning in Le Creusot.

Like its neighbor Alstom, the Thermodyn company, which has belonged to the international group Baker Hughes since October 2019, opened its doors exceptionally on Saturday morning. The aim was to welcome 110 visitors from all over the region, as part of the economic heritage days of the Saône-et-Loire department.
The visitors were perfectly supervised by managers of the creusotin site who presented the company and largely explained its technical and human resources (400 employees), its trades and its products (centrifugal compressors of low and medium pressure, steam turbines of small and medium power

On the project side, and after a relatively calm period following the Covid, the Thermodyn company seems to be bouncing back well. In addition to a large load of repairs on various products, the Creusot site, which has developed a range of compressors for LNG carriers, has already delivered 10 units: “We have ten more on order and ten more compressors will follow for the Wärtsilä company. This product gives excellent results in terms of performance, i.e. more than 20% of what we expected…” reveals Sébastien Gosse, who also highlights the series effect with its advantages… Another reason for satisfaction, the site has recorded a “nice” number of orders in the 3rd quarter of 2022, including that of 4 large capacity (20MW) ICL (Integrated Compressor Line) compressors for the United States. “This is the first order (40 million euros) for this type of equipment for the United States, these are 140-tonne machines that respect the environment and require little maintenance, to be delivered from October 2023 to March 2024. The order was placed recently, in May 2022…” emphasizes Sébastien Gosse, who also points out that a phase two could materialize with another order for 5 machines of the same type, by 2025-26, and always for the company DRIFTWOOD Pipeline.
On Saturday morning, in addition to discovering the site’s activities and innovations, it was possible to exchange views by sector with the various Thermodyn employees, in particular with the human resources staff.
We were to learn that the Creusot company is indeed looking for a planner, three welders, an accounting manager and a process engineer to work on the plans.
