Economic expert says Kamala Harris has better plan to grow jobs in America over Trump

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – In the race for president, economic experts say Vice President Kamala Harris has a better plan to maximize job growth in America over former President Donald Trump.

“The Harris plan probably would do a better job in helping avoid another major bout of inflation, and helping to reduce the risk of, a major recession,” said Ken Louie, Ph.D., associate professor at Penn State Behrend.

Harris has said the U.S. needs to build an ‘Opportunity Economy.’ Her plan to grow opportunities will come from expanding tax credits for companies offering higher paying union jobs, cutting government red tape to create more federal positions, and entering into public private partnerships in the bio manufacturing, aerospace, artificial intelligence and clean energy sectors.

At the presidential debate earlier this month, Harris said, “I believe in the ambition, the aspirations, the dreams of the American people.”

On the flip side, when Donald Trump left office in 2020, his administration oversaw nearly three million jobs lost in four years. In fairness, Dr. Louie said a lot of jobs were lost in 2020 due to COVID. But Louie also researched the economy before the pandemic.

“Even before the pandemic, in other words, if you compare the first three years of the last two administrations, job growth has been much more robust in the Biden administration,” said Louie.

This time around, the former president says he will create more jobs by implementing his’ Make America Great Again’ platform. Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda includes banning American companies who outsource jobs overseas from doing business with the federal government, increasing domestic oil and gas production, and adding jobs for those who help build the U.S. industrial defense base.

“Under Trump, every policy is about making life better and more affordable for hard working American families,” said Trump during a recent campaign ad.

Economists are pointing to the jobs reports in July and August from the Labor Department to say the labor market is weakening but remains stable. The U.S. has added 16 million jobs under the Biden-Harris Administration according to the Department of Labor.

However, poll after poll shows most voters trust Trump to better handle the overall economy.
