BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the 27th China-ASEAN Summit, the 27th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit , which will be held in Vientiane, Laos, from October 9 to 12, and will pay an official visit to Laos, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced on Tuesday.
It is at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Sonexay Siphandone, current president of ASEAN, that Mr. Li will visit this country, said Mrs. Mao, adding that he will also make an official visit in Vietnam from October 12 to 14 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh.
China is willing to work with ASEAN and other countries in the region to reach consensus, deepen mutual trust, strengthen cooperation, and inject new impetus into peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world in general, Mao said at a regular press briefing.
This is Li’s first visit to Laos and Vietnam since taking office. It is of great significance for promoting comprehensive strategic cooperation and deepening the construction of a community with a shared future, added the Chinese spokesperson. END
