Economic analysts lowered their growth forecast for the PBI of Peru for this year to 2.8%, according to the survey carried out at the end of April by the Central Reserve Bank (BCR).
The projection is lower than the 3% estimated in the previous March survey and is also lower than the growth projection of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), of 3.6%.
economic analysts they also lowered the GDP growth projection for 2023 from 2.7% to 2.5% (see box).
In the case of the survey of financial companies, they maintained their GDP growth forecast for this year at 2.5%.
The same thing happened with the projection of non-financial companies, which maintained their estimate at 3%.
It should be remembered that at the end of April the MEF presented the Macroeconomic Projections Update Report (IAPM) of the Multiannual Macroeconomic Framework (MMM) 2022-2025.
In the report, it projects that the GDP would grow 3.6% this year. And for 2023, the MEF estimates that the GDP would grow by 3.5%, also above what was forecast by economic analysts.
It should be remembered that the BCR also presented this week the survey of business expectations, which collapsed in April to its worst level in the last three months.
In this survey, indicators well below 50 points are observed in the expectations for the next three months on the economy, the sector, the company’s situation, demand for products, hiring of personnel and investments.
