Ecological bonus: Emmanuel Macron announces an additional 1,000 euros for the purchase of an electric car

To support the development of electric vehicles in France, Emmanuel Macron announced several measures in an interview with the newspaper Les Echos this Sunday, October 16.

The goal is simple “100% electric vehicles by 2035”. Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed this Sunday, October 16 in an interview in the newspaper Les Echos. And among the strong measures proposed by the President of the Republic, the passage from 6,000 to 7,000 euros of ecological bonus for the most modest.

“We want to make the electric car accessible to everyone, we are even going to increase the ecological bonus from 6,000 to 7,000 euros for half of the households, the most modest,” said Emmanuel Macron.

How to use the ecological bonus?

The “bonus” is a bonus for the purchase of a car, which encourages the buyer to turn to new cars with low CO2 emissions, indicates Ministry of Economy website. It has been valid since mid-August for vehicles sold for less than 47,000 euros. “The possible billing period for these vehicles is extended until June 30, 2023 (for vehicles ordered before December 31, 2022)”, adds Bercy.

Emmanuel Macron, however, did not specify what would be the income conditions necessary to benefit from this increase of 1,000 euros in the ecological bonus.

Other measures to support the electric

Among the other measures announced by the President, the extension of the price shield to electric charging stations, from January 2023. “Today prices remain reasonable, we will make sure they stay that way.”

In parallel with the increase in the production and sale of electric cars in France, Emmanuel Macron also wishes to deploy his electric car leasing system at 100 euros per month, promised during the campaign. However, the proposal has not yet seen the light of day. Emmanuel Macron indicates that “pre-orders will be made at the horizon of the second half of 2023, for delivery in early 2024″.
