The prospective gubernatorial candidate for the 2024 Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada), Ridwan Kamil (RK), admitted that he was open-minded when he was shouted at while attending the grand birthday (haul) of Al Imam Al Arifbillah Al Quthub Al Habib Hasan bin Muhammad Al Haddad (Mbah Priok). Residents actually shouted the name of former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan when RK visited.
“I have experienced two similar regional elections. So I’m not worried, I accepted it with an open heart, I’m grateful for the expression,” said RK in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Thursday (5/9).
He didn’t have a problem with it because he came in the capacity to fulfill the invitation.
“If I am rejected, I will not (stand) on the podium. So there I am respected too,” said RK.
The former Governor of West Java considered that the shouting was part of expression. Freedom of expression is part of democracy.
“That there are supporters from anyone, that is the beauty of democracy, the expression is that some use their thumbs, some shout, some make banners,” said RK.
