“Expect us to raise rates by half a percentage point in February and March and expect that we won’t be done by then and more measures to follow in May and June,” he said in an interview with Dutch radio and television group WNL.
In another interview, published Sunday by the Italian newspaper La Stampa, Klaas Knot judged that it was premature to comment on a possible slowdown in the pace of rate hikes by the summer.
“At some point, of course, the risks surrounding the inflation outlook will become more balanced,” he said.
“That would then be the time when we might go from 50 to 25 basis points, for example. But we are still a long way from that,” he said.
