LH Mikl-Leitner awarded Lower Austria state winners
St. Polten (OTS/NLK) – “The ‘Nature in the Garden’ plaque is a thank you for all natural gardeners in Lower Austria. Already today, more than 19,500 compatriots maintain their oasis of well-being on their own doorstep without chemical-synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and without peat. Many attractive natural garden elements can be found in their gardens, such as flower meadows, hotels for beneficial insects, wild shrubs and dry stone walls. Congratulations to the municipality of Ebreichsdorf (BN), the market town of Harmannsdorf (KO) and the market town of Echsenbach (ZT) on each of the largest increases in natural gardens with “Nature in the Garden” plaques in Lower Austria,” says Provincial Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.
The provincial governor honored those three communities in Lower Austria in which a particularly large number of new private gardens have found their way to “nature in the garden”. The municipality of Ebreichsdorf (Baden district) had the largest increase in the category of municipalities over 10,000 inhabitants with an increase of 29 plaques. A total of 164 “Nature in the Garden” plaques now adorn the garden fences in the community.
The market town of Harmannsdorf (Korneuburg district) had the largest increase in the category of municipalities between 2,000 and 10,000 inhabitants with an increase of eleven badges. A total of 67 “Nature in the Garden” plaques now adorn the garden fences in the community. The market town of Echsenbach (district of Zwettl) had the largest increase in the category of municipalities with under 2,000 inhabitants, with an increase of 25 badges. A total of 41 “Nature in the Garden” plaques now adorn the garden fences in the community.
“According to the motto ‘Be part of the movement’, the private commitment of many natural gardeners shows the great importance of ecological green maintenance in Lower Austria. For this reason, those municipalities in which an above-average number of new gardens have committed themselves to the criteria of ‘nature in the garden’ are now being brought in front of the curtain,” emphasizes Provincial Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.
“Nature in the garden” has been campaigning for the greening of gardens and green spaces in Lower Austria for over 20 years. The focus is on the three core criteria: avoidance of chemical-synthetic pesticides and fertilizers as well as peat. At the same time, great importance is attached to biological diversity and design with native and ecologically valuable plants.
