The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced on Wednesday the launch of the second cohort of its “Star Venture” program to support the development of 8 Moroccan startups.

After five beneficiary startups during the first cohort, some 8 others will be supported. The idea is to mobilize global expertise to help them grow rapidly, the EBRD said in a statement. “Star Venture” has demonstrated its full potential by contributing significantly to the growth and success of the five start-ups that participated in its first cohort, underlines the institution, citing the example of “Pipip Yallah” specializing in the carpooling, “Deepecho” in the field of artificial intelligence applied to health and “Weego”, specializing in sustainable mobility, which have distinguished themselves by achieving remarkable performance thanks to 18 months of personalized support and the resources made available their disposal by the program.

The selected startups will thus be put in contact with a network of international investors having a strategic interest for companies in the start-up phase through a series of pitching events, thus facilitating their fundraising and their expansion. Interested Moroccan startups should apply before September 24, 2023 on the EBRD website at “https://www.ebrd.com/starventure/overview“. A jury of experts will meet at an event organized by the EBRD in early October to select the eight startups that will join this second cohort.
