They saw that their paths would cross, but might no longer prevent the collision: A 65-year-old so-called kitefoiler from the Vöcklabruck district flew on Thursday followingnoon, around 2:30 p.m., with his board on the Traunsee in the Trauneck area in the municipality of Ebensee. At the same time, a 78-year-old from the Gmunden district was traveling in this area with his motorboat. The two might no longer avert the collision. The 65-year-old fell off his sports equipment in the collision with the motorboat and was injured to an unspecified degree. The motorboat driver rescued him from the lake and handed him over to the water rescue service. He was then flown to the Vöcklabruck Clinic in an emergency helicopter.
