Eau de Toulouse has recruited “water tasters” to improve its taste throughout the metropolis.

Eau de Toulouse Métropole has launched a recruitment operation for “water tasters” throughout the metropolis. The goal: to offer its users “water that is as safe in terms of sanitary quality as it is pleasant to drink all year round”.

On its website, Eau de Toulouse indicates that a “water quality” section allows the “community of tasters”, who have volunteered through a form, to give their opinion.

Improve the taste of tap water

“The water tasters will benefit from training in the tastes and smells of water. Then, they will be asked to taste the water at their home at pre-established times and frequencies. They will then provide the results of their tastings on a dedicated mobile application”, specifies Eau de Toulouse on its website.

“This will allow us to study more closely the effect of rain, for example, on water quality. We will also study the quality or taste of water depending on the distance traveled to the tap,” said explained Claire Bonnemayre, the head of the Water production department of Toulouse Métropole, to the newspaper The Dispatch.

The experiment should enable Eau de Toulouse, operated by the Veolia group, to assess consumer perception of the taste of water and to take their considerations into account by implementing solutions to respond to them.
