The holidays are fast approaching, and with them, huge dinners with family and friends. After this period of celebration, there is often a period where we say to ourselves: but what have we done? And this existential questioning generally comes when we put our foot on the scale!

Because you know, eating too much or drinking too much is often what happens when you have a good evening. The plates are rarely empty, and so are the glasses. Fortunately, we can have just as much fun, but still remain reasonable.

“We know that alcohol stimulates the appetite,” confirms nutrition doctor Isabelle Huot speaking to Sophie Durocher, via QUB radio.

And that’s not the only advice Ms. Huot has for partygoers. For example, did you know that eating a wonderful and succulent little sausage wrapped in puff pastry is equivalent to eating two to three squares of butter? So it should come as no surprise that the scales swing in January!
