Eating bananas improves heart health

A fruit with multiple virtues, the banana helps lower blood pressure and improve heart health.

Well known to gardeners as a fertilizer since its skin is rich in essential nutrients for the development and growth of your plants, the banana is also good for your heart and your figure!

Lower blood pressure in women

A recent study published in the “European Heart Journal” shows that it helps to improve the heart health and in women in particular, it lowers blood pressure. Rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and potassium, the banana promotes satiety and regulates transit.

The researchers’ study shows that potassium intake has a direct link to women’s blood pressure. As intake increased, blood pressure decreased in the candidates. Every one gram increase in daily potassium was associated with a 2.4 mm Hg drop in systolic blood pressure, the scientists noted. A high potassium intake in participants reduces the risk of heart problems by 13% compared to people with the lowest intakes (potassium counteracts the effects of salt).

One of the study authors adds: “Our results show that a heart-healthy diet is not just regarding reducing salt content, but also regarding increasing potassium intake.“.

Excellent for the silhouette

Other positive effects: the banana brings benefits for the morale and the… silhouette. Rich in fiber and vitamins, an immunity booster and essential to counter the sometimes too frequent ‘bad mood’… For people on a 2,000 calorie diet, a medium banana contains 3.07 g of fiber and the daily intake recommended for adults is 25 g. Our body takes time to digest certain types of fiber, which allows it to better regulate food intake.
