We’ve all heard the old saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” It seems the ancients were right, because researchers at Harvard University showed in their study that fruits rich in flavonoids (including apples) reduce the risk of developing weakness in the elderly.
During this period, regarding 13 percent of the participants developed weakness. In a study of their diet, scientists found that “an additional 10 mg of quercetin consumed per day, which is equivalent to a medium-sized apple, reduces the risk of weakness by 20 percent.
