Crispy nuggets can be enjoyed in the evening with a hot cup of tea. With just a handful of ingredients like poha, potato, onion, capsicum, peas and spices, you can easily make delicious nuggets at home.
This recipe does not require deep frying and does not require much oil. Because these nuggets can be prepared with just 2 tablespoons of oil.
To make the nuggets crispy, they are dipped in cornflour and then coated in breadcrumbs. If you don’t have breadcrumbs, you can skip this step.
To add cheesy flavor to the nuggets, stuff a small piece of cheese into the nuggets before frying.
Ingredients of Poha Nuggets
- Cooked rice (poha), one cup
- Onion, half
- Boiled peas, 1/4 cup
- Cumin powder, 1/2 tbsp
- Red chili powder, 1/4 tbsp
- Salt, to taste
- Cornmeal, two tablespoons
- Olive oil, two tablespoons
- Boiled potatoes, 2 large
- Capsicum (green chili), 1/2
- Chopped coriander leaves, 2 tbsp
- Machoor, 1/2 tbsp
- Garam masala powder, 1/4 tbsp
- Rice flour, 1/4 tbsp
- Breadcrumbs, as desired
How to Make Poha Nuggets
Wash the poha and soak it for a minute. Now drain the excess water and collect the poha in a bowl.
Put the boiled potatoes in a bowl and mash them. Add the soaked poha to it and mix well using your hands.
Now add finely chopped onion, capsicum, peas and coriander leaves and mix well.
Now add cumin powder, amchur, red chili powder, hot spices and salt to this mixture. Also add rice flour. Use your hands to mix and form the dough.
Take small portions of the dough and roll them between your hands to form nuggets.
Combine cornflour with 1/4 cup water in a bowl. And make a paste of it.
To coat, first dip the nuggets in this paste and then coat them with breadcrumbs.
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Fry the nuggets in hot oil.
Your poha nuggets are ready to serve. Enjoy with ketchup and mint sauce.
You can add oregano and chopped red pepper to add flavor.
