GAME 9

Eastern Illinois returns home to First Mid Court at Groniger Arena for the first time in nearly a month as the Panthers host North Dakota for the annual Kid’s Day Game.   EIU wrapped up the five-game road swing with a Tuesday night win at Bradley to improve to 2-6 on the season.   North Dakota enters at 3-5 on the season with the Fighting Hawks having won two straight.   One change for the Panthers program is the name of the Arena which was renamed Groniger Arena since the last time the Panthers played at home on November 12 once morest Valparaiso.

MCGLONE NAMED OVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Macy McGlone averaged 19.5 points and 12 rebounds per game during the Panthers two games last week at New Mexico and Loyola-Chicago.  For those efforts she was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week.   The honor came out on Tuesday morning before McGlone started her campaign for a repeat effort in the game at Bradley posting her fourth straight double-double with new career highs in points (32) and rebounds (16).  McGlone is averaging 22.5 points and 13 rebounds per game over the last four games.   She leads the OVC in rebounding and field goal percentage while ranking third in the conference in scoring.

KEEPING THE TURNOVERS DOWN

Eastern Illinois had struggled with turning the ball over in several games this season committing 20 or more turnovers in five of their seven previous games.   On Tuesday night at Bradley, that issue went away as the Panthers had only seven turnovers in the road win over the Braves.  It was the lowest turnover total in a game for EIU since committing seven in January 2022 once morest Murray State.  Last season the Panthers lowest turnover total in a game was nine in the opener once morest Missouri St. Louis.
