Eastern Economic Zone to make exchanges with Shandong companies

The Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, met with the Vice Governor of Shandong, China, Chen Ping, within the framework of the signing of a memorandum of cooperation and strengthening of the Special Agri-Food Economic Zone of Eastern Venezuela (ZEEAO) with the eastern province of the Asian country.

The Memorandum allows the establishment of a platform for exchanges between companies, organizations and institutions of Shandong and the states of Anzoátegui, Bolívar, Delta Amacuro, Guárico, Monagas and Sucre, with the aim of strengthening exchanges “even more”. They agreed on “the complementarity of advantages, reciprocal benefits and common development.”

“We had the opportunity to advance the signing of the agreement to expand twinning between Shandong province and the eastern states. It allows the ZEEAO to be fully twinned with the province,” said the agricultural minister, from the city of Weifang, where Venezuela participates in the III Forum of China-Latin America and the Caribbean Ministers of Agriculture.

Vice Governor Ping recognized the importance that the government of President Nicolás Maduro has given to the formation of the ZEEAO with the Chinese agricultural province. “That you are here fully reflects the great importance you attach to cooperation between China and Venezuela.”

He added that Shandong has the “historic mission” of serving in the overall development configuration of the People’s Republic of China to promote its opening and cooperation abroad; both with Venezuela and with other countries in the world.

In reference to the speed of the processes, Castro Soteldo thanked the efforts of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Relations and the Venezuelan Embassy in China. “We managed to sign in record time,” he added in the company of the Venezuelan ambassador to China, Giuseppe Yoffreda.

For his part, the Venezuelan diplomatic official pointed out that important work was done with the incorporation of the eastern states into the twinning.

The agreement was signed by Yoffreda on behalf of the Bolivarian government and by China, Chen Baiwei, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office and provincial executive vice president of friendship with foreign countries.

Wilmar Castro announced that the revolutionary government is close to signing a memorandum of understanding with the Shandong Veterinary Research Center, “one of the most advanced centers in the production of veterinary medicine; vaccines, especially for sheep and poultry farming, to cooperate more closely with Venezuela.”

The ZEEAO has an area of ​​15 million hectares suitable for agricultural, livestock, aquaculture, fishing and forestry production, in addition “it has the largest aquifer in Latin America”, in infrastructure it has airports, seaports, silos for food storage among others.
